Different Types of Badge Holders

 Different Types of Badge Holders

Badge holders vary in both material and design. Each type serves its purpose, but they all have one thing in common: they keep your badges safe at special events or gatherings. The following types of badge holders, like a horizontal badge holder, are the most commonly used:

1. Rigid Badge Holders

Rigid badge holders are tightly-folded plastic that keeps the badges inside flat and free from bending. They generally come in two layers, with a separator between them; this separator can be anything from cardboard to paper to cloth (the latter is most common). Rigid badge covers close on either side with a string or a plastic snap.

Rigid badge holders are the most common and widely used in situations in which badges need to be shown: conventions, conferences, and job fairs, among others. They’re inexpensive and reasonably practical for their purpose.

2. RFID Blocking Badge Holders

RFID blocking badge holders are designed specifically for use with RFID badges. They provide a shield between the card and any scanners (such as those used at entrances) to prevent unauthorized reading of their information.

While many RFID-blocking cards can fit in regular badge holders, this is not recommended. .it is always better to use an official holder provided by the event organizer.

3. Vinyl Badge Holders

Vinyl badge holders are made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic and can be transparent or opaque. They’re also printed on the inside with a unique design (for multiple cards).

Vinyl holders are almost identical to rigid ones. They differ in that they can bend or stretch, making them ideal with ribbons, pins, and other accessories. Like the former holder, vinyl badge covers open on either end; many close via a plastic snap installed near the top of the cover.

4. Lanyard Badge Holders

Lanyard badge holders have a lanyard or strap attached to one end of the cover, which you can tie to a belt loop, backpack strap, etc. This allows for easy portability and can help prevent loss if a badge is accidentally dropped. The holder is also tightly folded.

5. Oversized Badge Holders

Oversized badge holders come with a thick sleeve covering a standard-sized holder inside to provide room for any accessories. This type of cover comes with a string or plastic snap closure at either end.

These badge holders are more significant than the standard size and may be used with or without lanyards. They can hold multiple badges (typically two) of their usual size and paper inserts such as maps and schedules.

6. Horizontal Badge Holders

The Horizontal badge holder is designed with the exact dimensions as standard ones, but it opens on long sides instead of short ones. This allows several badges or cards to be inserted at once; badges can also be placed vertically if desired.

This type of badge holder has a long, narrow design with two pockets on one side. It holds two badges per pocket to show in front and back (i.e., the top and bottom). These badge covers are clear, semi-rigid plastic and can be opened with either a string or a zipper.

7. Armband Badge Holders

Armband-style badge holders are made of stretchy material with a snap or string closure at one end. This allows for the holder to be slipped over an arm, wrist, ankle, etc.

Armbands allow for mobility and are suitable for situations in which people should wear these badges outside of clothing. They’re often used in the transportation industry.

8. Magnetic Badge Holders

Magnetic badge holders are similar to armbands in design, except for an additional metal strip inside the holder. This strap attaches to another one on a magnetic board or strap (provided by the organizer) using magnets; this keeps your ID visible while allowing for movement and comfort.

These holders are ideal for situations in which badges should be worn on the outside of clothing and displayed at all times. They’re often used by airport security and first-responders.

Conclusion

Badge holders can be made of a variety of materials and offer various features. From cheap multi-card holders to high-tech RFID, there’s an option for every common need.
